Honour Among Thieves
The Mission at Mission Hill
The Mission at Mission Hill is an iconic church complex that gives the town of Mission Hill its name.
An impressive white-bricked structure, The Mission originally housed an order of Dominican missionaries based on Muir. The Mission is located in a walled compound that contains a landscaped atrium, living quarters, storage sheds and a school. The church’s impressive tiered front steps are a popular gathering place for the townspeople.
A sawmill owned and operated by the order is located on the outskirts of town and shares some architectural similarities with the church.
In recent years the church and its surrounding outbuildings have fallen into disrepair. A lone Shepherd has arrived to maintain the facilities and eventually reopen the mission.
