Central Market

The central market district of the VineyardCentral Market is the name given to The Vineyard’s shopping district and public square.

The marketplace is made up of small, independently-owned shops, where one can pick up breads, meats, and cheeses. The word “artisanal” is used a lot in their advertising copy, and scheduled tasting tours send hungry visiting locavores from one quaint shop to the next to sample the mealtime fare, culminating in a picnic or reserved seating at the outdoor café tables scattered about the periphery of the central public square.

The largest building is a fine restaurant and inn that boasts baths and massages.

A small, whitewashed church is the only other structure of note. The bell in the church’s steeple chimes every hour, on the hour.
